Rossall Beach & West Point
Rossall Beach & West Point Land Kiting The access for these beaches is at a few different places, for West Point you can park and access at the Log Cabin Cafe for Rossall Beach head for the Vue CInema and find the small no through road, go to the end and enjoy! The Beach is hard and mostly flat with the odd gully, you need to hit the beach well before or after high tide though as the tide does come right to the sea defences and without careful planning can cut you off, there are also some breakwaters to be aware of if the tide pushes you into the top of the beach. At low tides though this is simply an awsome spot, catch it in strong Westerly winds for best results. Kitesurfing West Point is probably the favorite spot as there is less submerged rock than at Rossall / Cleveley's. With the right swell & winds this can offer the best of Blackpool's waves as at low tides the sand bar acts as the perfect break. Best conditions for wave riding are a swell from the West or North West and a SW wind which holds the waves up nicely and gives nice wind conditions X wave. At high tides if you get stuck on a W, NW wind simply head round the point to Fleetwood where the sea rarely comes up to the sea wall. Best wind directions are S, WSW, W, WNW, NW, N Rossall Beach Residents Association are keen to support kitesports on their beach so please allways act in a curteous and polite way, ensuring that we have a continued welcome at this beach.
